Pamper Me Senseless, Please!

#53 – Be pampered

I’m sure everyone has a different definition of what it feels like to be pampered. Mine usually involves good food, a massage, maybe a long soak in a deep tub and time spent with someone special.

A few weeks ago, my wonderful daughter treated me to an evening that encompassed all that and more.

We went to The Waters Spa, a relatively new spa in uptown Waterloo. I’d often walked past it, intrigued, but had never been inside.

We started with a luxurious soak of our feet in rose petal-laden water while sipping herbal teas, listening to soft music. Oh, did I mention we were wrapped in soft thick white robes? The first of a series of sighs…

Then we reluctantly removed our feet from the water and padded down the hall to a special room where we could have side-by-side treatments. The next two hours were pure bliss, starting with a long soak in a huge tub (again laden with fragrant rose petals), followed by a mud soap scrub that made the skin tingle. For the curious, we were wearing our bathing suits!

Next the two therapists painted most of our bodies with black mud and we headed into a steam room for 10 minutes. The fun part was trying to get all the mud off in the shower (glad I don’t have to clean it after treatments!)

And the final delight was a gentle massage using aloe vera cream. My skin has never felt so soft.

We could barely get ourselves off the massage tables when the treatment was over. And we really didn’t want to head outside.

However, the evening wasn’t over. We polished off a delicious meal along with some red wine and plenty of laughter-filled conversation.

The perfect ending to a perfect evening.

Oh, it’s good to be pampered!!
