Fudging The Numbers

Normally I’m a stickler for perfection. However, there are a couple of items on my list that I’ve sort of accomplished, so I’m giving myself permission to cross them off. The reasons why I didn’t do them were due to circumstances beyond my control.

#12 – Take skate ski lessons

I did try to do this last winter, honest! I signed up for classes, had all my gear ready to go and .. we didn’t get any snow! It was the winter that wasn’t. We had the occasional skiff of the white stuff, but it always melted by the time the night for classes came around. So I have signed up again in the hope that this winter there will be snow.

Fingers crossed!

#9 – Learn a flamenco solo to “Dreams” by Juneyt

I heard Juneyt play this particular song a year ago during a September open-air concert at Waterloo Town Square. The music sent ripples of excitement through my body and I could already envision myself dancing to it. I spoke to him after and asked about it (I have his CD and it’s not on there) and he hadn’t recorded it yet. He said he’d make me a copy so I could work with it.

I showed up occasionally where he was playing over the next six months, gently asking, but he is very busy. The recording didn’t materialize. So I’ve done the next best thing.

A friend of mine and I are creating a flamenco duet to one of the songs on Juneyt’s current CD, Ocean. We started on it last spring and plan to continue working on it this winter.

So, as far as I’m concerned, that’s as close as I can get to crossing this one off my list. As for performing the duet, I’ll keep you posted!
